Scrapbooking Handy Hints
Here's a quick collage of handy hints for scrapbooking. Some of the more obscure scrapbooking
techniques you may have forgotten about, or never even heard of. Off the
radar and outside the box, your sure to find something useful. (Or weird)
Competition Compositions
Arrange your photographs so that the eyes of people in the pictures look
inward towards the center of the page and/or lead the viewer to the next
item on your page.
Transparent Toast
When printing on a transparency, right after the printer spits it out and
the ink is still wet, sprinkle some embossing powder on it and heat emboss
your lettering. This looks really nice and really expensive; especially good
for wedding scrapbooking stuff. Be sure to keep your heating tool a safe
distance away so you don't toast your transparency.

No pockets like faux pockets
This is one you've probably already heard of, making a faux pocket for your
page out of cardstock or something similar. You can stick secret things in
there, like photos or charms and it's a great way to make an interactive
page. Here's the obvious twist. Use actual pockets! Before you throw away
those old jeans, cut out the back pockets and use a strong adhesive to
attach them to your page. This creates a really fun. personal page with lots
of room for experimentation. Add captions like "Looks like an ordinary
pocket right? But when combined with my son and a couple crayons, this
ordinary pocket turns into a ruined batch of laundry" or in a text box
underneath a page with your back pockets "My husbands favorite hand warmers"
Competition Compositions
Create a visual triangle with photos and embellishments. Triangles pull all
of the items together, while pairs or groups of 4 will separate them into
sections.
Baby clothes blues
Some baby clothes are so ugly you can't wait until they grow out of them so
you can give them away. (The clothes not the baby) But a lot of baby clothes
are really, really cute and you hate to get rid of them. Try using pieces or
patterns from some of your favorites as borders or backgrounds for your
pages. This will look especially nice next to a photo of your child wearing
the same article of clothing.
Competition Compositions
Avoid trapped white space. Trapped white space is a block of unused space
trapped in the gutter of your pages.
