3 Things you must know about scrapbooking layouts and scrapbook templates.

Good scrapbooking layouts are the foundation of a great scrapbook. And whether you like to create your own from scratch or start with pre-designed scrapbook templates, here are a few important things I like to keep in mind.

1. The first rule is of course, there are no rules! This is the best part of scrapbooking! Anything and everything is vulnerable to be used as a creative sacrifice for the greater good of "THE SCRAPBOOK" Have you ever been folding your daughters clothes and noticed how perfectly a pattern from one of her dresses matches the background for your "Road Trip 2006" scrapbook page? I have, and I can tell you, with a few scissor snips and a little creative hemming, you can have a great looking scrapbook page and she can have a cute new dress. (Kind of) Everybody wins.

Just a little side note here: If you’re smiling right now because you can relate to this, then yes, you ARE addicted to scrapbooking. Please look into a 12 step program.

2. Great scrapbooking layouts start with great pictures. This is true for any page in your scrapbook. You may have just downloaded a dozen of the latest and greatest scrapbook templates, but if your pictures are boring, then your pages are boring. And more often then not, boring pictures are the result of boring people. So get a book on taking great photos (digital cameras are easier to use than you think) and a haircut wouldn't be a bad idea either.

3. Last but not least. Take advantage of scrapbooking forums and scrapbook layout galleries. If 2 heads are better than one, than thousands of heads must be really good. This is a great way to share and trade scrapbook templates. Checkout our database below for more information.
