10 Ideas for Scrapbooking Family get togethers and Holidays
by Paula Pierce

Scrapbooking family get togethers and creating holiday scrapbook pages are great ways to capture and share the special times and events that you enjoy with your family. In fact, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Halloween scrapbook pages are often some of the most valuable and cherished pages in your scrapbook.

Of course we love to scrapbook individual birthdays and special events, but there is just something about having the entire family together that seems to make any experience or activity that much better. You'll know exactly what I mean if you take a moment to think about one of your most favorite Christmas memories. The description of a memory like this almost always starts with the phrase "everybody was there"

Whether it's Thanksgiving dinner or delivery pizza, remember this; friends will come and go but families are forever. Everyone makes mistakes but people grow and change along the way. Be grateful for the family you have and make the most of the time you have with them, because yesterday is only a memory and tomorrow may never come.

(That was beautiful. Be honest, are you crying right now?)

Here's 10 great ideas to help you create, capture and preserve those precious family moments.

  • Be a photo ninja- If the key to a successful business is location, location, location, then the key to a great scrapbook is pictures, pictures, pictures. I know this is an obvious one but hear me out. (Sometimes I like start off with the easy ones first so you'll underestimate me, and then just when you're least expecting it...POW! I hit you with the greatest scrapbook idea ever. So be ready.)

We've all heard that a picture can be worth a thousand words, but the truth is, the value of a good picture cannot be measured in words because a good picture, will leave you speechless. So, what makes a picture good?

The key to killer Kodak moments is not your camera. It doesn't matter how much you paid or how many mega pixels you have. The secret to super snapshots can be summed up in 3 syllables: E-MO-TION. Any picture can give it's viewer something to look at, but a good picture makes it's viewer feel something.

Think back to some of the best Natural Geographic photos you can remember. 9 times out of 10 they are photos of a person or people and 9 times out of 10 they are completely "natural" photos. Now by "natural" I don't mean everybody is in their birthday suit. I mean there are no props, no prepping and no photographer yelling "Everybody say cheese!" (Does anybody still say that?) It is a spur of the moment shot that captures exactly how it's subject was feeling at the time. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad, but always real and sincere. If you want to take great pictures, photograph people when they're least expecting it or without them knowing it. (But no stalking!)
