Most scrapbook
kits come with lots of decorative options.
However, do not feel compelled to use every embellishment or
decorating device. In scrapbooking, less sometimes is more.
Remember that the manufacturer of the kit is trying to supply
you with enough options so you can produce a product that you
can be proud of. But there is no requirement that says you have
to use everything in the kit.
Many scrapbooking kits come in themes - birthday, anniversary,
vacations, etc. If you are creating a album to document your
recent vacation, choosing a vacation themed kit will give you
lots of custom vacation themed embellishments - a really bonus.
Here are some of the basic items that you will find in a typical
scrapbooking kit:
A scrapbook or an album Papers (plain or patterned that has a
common theme) Die cuts Stickers Ink and rubber stamp Any type of
scissors Punchers Cardstocks Ruler Markers, pens and pencils
Envelopes Adhesives Stencils Photos Any sort of embellishments
Of course, you may augment the kit in anyway you see fit -
that's the beauty of being creative.
Another benefit of scrapbook kits is a cost savings.
Scrapbooking embellishments and garnishments can really add up.
Sometimes you don't need a package of 10 'xxxx', you just need
one. But let's say the scrapbooking store only sells them in a
'10' quantity, then you are overspending on what you don't
really need. A scrapbook kit is pre-measured with the exact
amount of what you need for a page.
All in all, scrapbooking kits are wonderful for scrapbookers of
all experiences levels. For the novice, they are a good template
to follow allowing them to produce a professional product. For
the advanced scrapbooker, they are a tremendous time saver when
time is in short supply.
